”Poseidon Rising” – Wade Mikkola Trio – AMK 1002 – 2002

Wade Mikkola, Lasse Hirvi and Tommi Vainikainen performed weekly at a bar called Poseidon in Helsinki. The pieces on this CD, again arranged by Mikkola, got their finishing touches in those performances, and then were recorded. The pianist Hirvi, one moment bubbling over, then fully meditative, but is always a colourful example of the classic styles of piano trio jazz. The drummer, Vainikainen, masterfully finds a groove to the varying arrangements of otherwise familiar tunes.
