Alan Matheson & Wade Mikkola Duo

As a sequel to the previous CD that consisted of “Jazz Interpretations of Oskar Merikanto’s music”, this one has jazz arrangements of compositions by other notable Finnish composers of various genres, like Jean Sibelius, Erik Lindström, Toivo Kärki and George De Godzinsky. This material by the Matheson – Mikkola Duo has been received with great interest and success in many performances around Finland and Canada. The release of this CD, charting Finnish music, coincided nicely with the 100 years of Finland’s independence celebration. The Sibelius composition, ”Norden” (Opus 99/1), that is included here was composed on the year of the independence 1917.
