”Taking A Chance…” – Mandy Gaines & Wade Mikkola Quintet – AMK 1003 – 2006

It was a 'blind date', when a Finnish company had asked the American singer, Mandy Gaines, to come to perform at their party, and Mikkola's quintet was asked to accompany her. The powerful and soulful singing of Gaines worked perfectly with the quintet, and yearly performances at Finnish festivals and the Storyville Club in Helsinki has followed. Gaines and Mikkola collaborated on the arrangements that give new flavor to the 'old chestnuts'. The strong back-up and swing is produced by Pekka Toivanen (sax), Petri Krzywacki (guitar), Georgos Kontrafouris (piano) and Thomas Rönnholm (drums).
